Already qualified with SSI and looking for people to dive with? Staffordshire Divers welcomes enquiries from SSI-trained divers who want to enjoy club diving, meet buddies and explore suitable training opportunities.
Whether you learned abroad, are new to UK waters or haven't dived recently, tell us about your qualification and experience. We'll discuss suitable next steps and explain the membership and participation requirements.

Can I join with an SSI qualification?
Yes. We review qualification level, recent experience and diving interests to help you join in a way that is suitable for your background and goals.
Do I need to change training organisations?
Joining the club is separate from choosing any future training route. We can discuss the options available through the club and what might suit your interests.
Bringing your training records
Please share your SSI qualification details and relevant logged dives. Records of additional training help instructors understand your background before recommending next steps.
New to UK diving?
If you qualified overseas, UK diving may involve different conditions, kit setup and exposure protection choices. Tell us what you have used before and we can discuss suitable preparation and introductory opportunities.
Returning after a break?
If you have not dived recently, speak to us before planning dives. We can discuss confidence, current experience and any refresher needs.

Further training
Your SSI qualification and experience provide the starting point for a discussion about further training. Our instructors can explain the courses available through the club and check the relevant entry requirements.
You do not need to assume you must repeat beginner training. Any familiarisation, assessment or additional training will depend on your background and intended activities.
Getting involved
Members hear about dives through club communications, register interest and are grouped into suitable buddy arrangements based on experience and dive aims.

Can I join with SSI Open Water Diver?
Yes. Contact us with your qualification and recent diving details so we can discuss suitable next steps.
Can I join if I qualified overseas?
Yes. We regularly speak with divers trained overseas and can help plan suitable UK-oriented preparation.
Do I need to switch to BSAC?
No automatic switch is assumed. Joining the club and future training choices are discussed separately.
Can I take further PADI or BSAC training?
Potentially yes, depending on entry requirements, instructor availability and your current experience.
What qualification records should I provide?
Please share qualification details and any relevant logbook/training records.
What if I have not dived recently?
Tell us before planning dives so we can discuss refresher and confidence-building options.
Can I visit before joining?
Yes. You are welcome to meet the team on club night and ask questions first.
