🌊 **Another brilliant day at Capernwray with Staffordshire Divers!** 🤿 What a fantastic day's diving with plenty to celebrate! A huge **congratulations to Luke Boland , who has now successfully completed his **BSAC Ocean Diver** qualification. Your hard work, commitment and determination have really paid off. Welcome to the world of qualified divers—we can't wait to see where your diving adventures take you! Thanks to Simon Boland for providing much needed surface support and amazing photos. Congratulations also to **Dan**, who has completed **two of the practical training sessions** towards his BSAC Ocean Diver course. A great start with some excellent progress made today. Both trainees demonstrated excellent diving skills throughout the day, with some **outstanding buoyancy control** on display. Seeing confidence grow with every dive is exactly what makes instructor days so rewarding. A big thank you to everyone who helped make today another successful training day. 🎉 Congratulations to one of our members on successfully completing their **BSAC Advanced/Expedition Diver** qualification during a busy long weekend in Scotland! 👏🌊 The **BSAC Advanced Diver** is one of BSAC's highest diver grades ( only first class to go ) and is designed to develop confident, capable divers who can safely plan and manage dives in a wide range of conditions. The course focuses on expedition planning, dive management, leadership, boat diving, navigation, rescue management and the practical skills needed to organise and lead diving safely. The weekend was based around **Laga Lodge** on the beautiful shores of Loch Sunart, with some fantastic diving including: 🔹 A checkout dive close to Laga Lodge 🔹 Risga Pinnacle 🔹 Carva Island 🔹 Risga Gulley It wasn't just about the diving either! There was plenty of practical experience behind the scenes, including: 🚤 Boat handling and coxswain practice 🧭 Dive management and expedition planning 🗺️ Site selection and risk assessment 🪝 Shot line deployment and recovery 🗜️ Compressor operation and cylinder filling 🤿 Managing diving operations from the RHIB It has certainly been a full-on weekend with long days, lots of learning, and plenty of time on and under the water. Congratulations again on achieving this significant milestone—we're incredibly proud of your hard work and commitment. Great to see one of our instructors delivering a sidemount course today for the North West Region. Sidemount diving is a fantastic skill set, giving divers more flexibility, improved trim, and another way to configure equipment safely and effectively. All being well, after this weekend they will become a qualified sidemount instructor, bringing even more training opportunities back to the club. Today was a little different! We completed a dry dive to 40 metres in a hyperbaric chamber, practising the procedures, communication and planning that go into deeper diving without getting wet. After surfacing safely, it was time to swap dive computers for cocktails and enjoy a well-earned lunch in Liverpool. A great day of learning, laughs and good company. Diving isn't always about getting in the water; sometimes it's about building knowledge, experience and confidence for future adventures.
