Diving with a Disability or Additional Support Needs

Interested in scuba diving but unsure how a disability or additional support need might affect taking part? Staffordshire Divers has an instructor trained through BSAC's Diving for All programme.

Contact us to discuss what you would like to do and the support you may need. We can explore suitable options, explain the facilities and identify any medical advice or additional arrangements required before booking.

Start with a conversation

Support arrangements are individual. Suitable options depend on the person, the planned activity, available facilities and the support available at the time.

What would you like to do?

You are welcome to ask about trying diving, learning to dive, or returning to diving with an existing qualification. We can help you understand suitable options before any booking is made.

Discussing suitable support

We can discuss possible adaptations and practical support with the appropriately trained instructor. Any arrangements are agreed based on what is suitable and available for the session.

Pool access and facilities

Access arrangements can vary by venue and session setup. Please tell us your access requirements in advance so we can confirm current entry/exit, changing and on-site practical arrangements before booking.

Medical screening

The normal medical screening process still applies. Depending on the information provided, medical advice or clearance may be required before diving activities are confirmed.

What happens next?

  1. Contact us about your interests and access or support requirements.
  2. Discuss the options with the appropriate instructor.
  3. Confirm suitability, arrangements and required screening before booking.
Diving support discussion and planning

Planning support before booking

We'll discuss goals, facilities and suitable arrangements first, then agree next steps before any session is confirmed.
