What happens at a Staffordshire Divers club night?

MEET YOUR LOCAL DIVING CLUB

A conversation is a useful place to start your next diving adventure.

You do not have to choose a course or know exactly what equipment you need before speaking to a diving club. Meeting members gives you an opportunity to ask questions and understand how the club works.

Staffordshire Divers meets on Wednesdays at 8pm at Hickory's Smokehouse, Kingsway, Stafford, ST16 1BE. Visitors are welcome to come along, meet members and ask about training, joining and diving.

Check our current club-night details and directions before travelling.

What can you ask about?

Club night is a social meeting where you can discuss your interests with other divers. The conversation will depend on who is there and what you want to find out.

  • New to diving: ask about Try Dives, beginner courses and how training is arranged.
  • Already qualified: discuss your experience, finding buddies and how club diving works.
  • Returning after a break: ask how to explore suitable refresher or training options.
  • Interested in progression: discuss the diving you would like to do and relevant development opportunities.

You do not need to arrive with a completed membership form. You can first find out whether the club and its activities suit what you are looking for.

Do I need to bring anything?

For an initial conversation, it helps to think about your availability, the diving that interests you and any questions you want answered.

If you already dive, knowing your qualification, approximate number of dives and when you last dived helps explain your background. You can ask which records will be needed if you decide to join or arrange training.

There is no need to bring a full set of diving equipment to a social club night. If you want to speak to someone about a particular course or equipment question, contact us beforehand so we can help direct your enquiry.

Pool training and Try Dives take place separately. Attending club night is not a pool booking or confirmation of a diving session.

What happens after the first conversation?

Your next step depends on your experience and interests. You might decide to book a Try Dive, ask for beginner course details, discuss returning to the water or enquire about membership.

As a member, you can take part in club dives, trips, training opportunities and social activities. Some activities involve separate booking, costs or prerequisites, and we will explain what applies before you commit.

Browse our club news and trip reports and club presentations to see some of the subjects and activities members are interested in.

Come and say hello

Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced diver, we would be pleased to hear what you would like to do next.
