Loch Sunart 2026: exploring Scotland with the club
SCOTTISH EXPEDITION · JULY 2026
A week of exploring Loch Sunart, with the boat at the heart of the adventure.
Heading for the Highlands
Our expedition to Loch Sunart ran from 10 to 17 July 2026, taking club members to the Scottish Highlands for a week of diving.
With diving based around the loch, the trip provided an opportunity to explore a different part of the UK and enjoy the shared experience of a club expedition.
Exploring by RIB
We used Southport BSAC's 6-metre Tornado RIB, with Laga Lodge as our launch base. Boat diving brought the group together for the practical work of preparing equipment, loading the boat and organising the day.
That teamwork is an important part of an expedition. The diving depends on the work above the surface as well as what happens below it.
Sites around the loch
Our diving included a checkout near Laga Lodge and visits to Risga Principal and Risga Gulley.
Returning to the boat after a dive gave everyone the chance to compare what they had seen and discuss the next outing. Exploring sites together is part of what makes a club trip memorable.
A shared effort
A week of boat diving takes organisation: preparing the boat, planning suitable dives, checking conditions and coordinating buddies and equipment.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the expedition, and to Southport BSAC for the use of their RIB.
Loch Sunart added another chapter to our year of club diving.
